Reading scores were up in grades six through 10. Science scores for grades four, eight and high school were also slightly higher.

Math scores overall decreased.

"Last year, on the recommendation of the Department of Education, the State Board of Education adopted new, rigorous, internationally benchmarked math standards.

It was discussed at the time that this would cause some reduction in AIMS math test scores, and this shows in the 2010 results," a news release from the department states.

The AIMS writing test was administered for grades five, six, seven and high school. It was suspended for grades three, four and eight.

Scores for schools and districts on Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards can be found at www.azed.gov.
